Jarek Kupść
Polish-American creator of all things visual and textual.
Born and raised in Warszawa (Warsaw, Poland), migrated south to Greece after art high school. In Athens, he studied Byzantine icon techniques and survived doing street portraiture.
Emigrated to the US, initially settling in Philadelphia, where he acquired a useful survival skill of silkscreen graphic design and printing.
In California, he designed T-shirt graphics for a living, while studying film writing and directing. He had his first solo art show at 23, in San Francisco. After completing his education, he wrote and illustrated a book on film history and made his first feature film.
After a stint in New York, where he storyboarded for commercials, he relocated to Los Angeles with a new family. He made two more feature films while supporting himself as an illustrator, designer and, strangely enough, actor.
Due to external circumstances, he moved back to Poland, where he currently resides, and continues to make films, write and illustrate, as well as teach cinema at a university level.
